Helping CAFCN Step into a New Digital Chapter

When you’re a national nonprofit supporting hundreds of healthcare professionals, your website isn’t just a hub; it’s your front door, your member portal, your event HQ, and your go-to resource library.

That’s what the Canadian Association of Foot Care Nurses (CAFCN) needed. They had managed to amass over 600 members and were looking to update their website with the goal of increasing membership, showcasing member benefits and resources, and supporting future initiatives.

The old site had good bones, but it was tough to navigate and didn’t clearly showcase CAFCN’s value, especially for prospective members. Resources were hard to find. Member-only content needed some added security. And as the association looked ahead to future growth, it was clear the site needed to be more than just a place to host PDFs.

So we rebuilt it…with the future in mind.

Here’s what we did:

One, we refocused the site around what members care about most, which was membership benefits, best practice guidelines, etc. The content is now easier to explore, better organized, and hence, better equipped to increase memberships. We wanted key information to be accessible with just a few intuitive clicks for both new and returning members, who were looking for specific documents.

Two, we built a secure, scalable Members Area. Our Head of Operations, Kent, led the charge on locking down member-only content and integrating it with CAFCN’s existing CRM. The result was a streamlined backend that gives the CAFCN team more control and a smoother experience for users who need to log in and access exclusive resources.

Three, we elevated the design with a clean, professional look. Our Creative Director worked closely with our design team to redesign the layout and style, giving the site a fresh visual identity while keeping the focus on clarity and usability. The site was meant to feel more modern and trustworthy, without sacrificing the warmth and community CAFCN is known for.

Finally, we created an easy-to-use “Find a Foot Care Nurse” directory. This feature helps the public quickly locate registered foot care nurses in their area, boosting visibility for CAFCN members and connecting more people to quality care.

The result was a site that brings together public education, professional support, and community engagement all in one place. And as CAFCN continues to grow its membership and expand its reach, their digital presence is now built to grow with them.

This is one of those projects where thoughtful UX, strong backend integration, and client collaboration really came together. Check out the new CAFCN website: https://cafcn.ca
