Website redesign for fundraising, storytelling, and community impact.
The Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation is a well-known institute in the province, raising funds to provide life-saving care and breakthrough research.
A number of factors were critical to the success of the new website. ACHF served multiple stakeholder groups—donors, community partners, volunteers, and families. Their old site wasn’t flexible enough to speak compellingly to these audiences. The communications team needed a site they could update on their own, one that could also handle data collection, engagement tracking, and frequent storytelling.
We began with a UX discovery process to understand the needs and challenges of each stakeholder group. Through a sequence of steps designed to gain a thorough understanding of stakeholder needs and challenges, we created a framework for the site that balanced departmental objectives and overarching themes.
With a strong existing brand rooted in care, compassion, and hope, our job was to translate that into a digital experience that truly resonated. We worked closely with the design team to ensure the look and feel of the site matched the emotional tone of ACHF’s mission—engaging users while reinforcing trust and credibility.
We built the new site on a flexible, modular WordPress platform that gave the ACHF team total control. From updating content to launching new campaign pages, the intuitive CMS made it easy to keep the site fresh and relevant.
To support fundraising efforts, we integrated the site with Classy—a powerful platform that handles donations, peer-to-peer fundraising, and event management. The result was a seamless experience for users and internal teams, all working to increase engagement and drive impact.
The new site focused on increasing conversions, growing traffic, and becoming the central hub for campaigns and initiatives. By adding more ways for users to interact with the foundation and tailoring content to different audiences, the site achieved its goals.
The result is a content-rich website that’s easy to update and clearly organized. Visitors can easily find information and explore ways to get involved.
