Building a searchable clinical platform for a leading children’s hospital.
The Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation (ACHF) needed a central hub to house its publicly available pediatric clinical care guidelines—something reliable, searchable, and scalable.
The goal? To make it easy for clinicians to access up-to-date care protocols through a secure, organized, and intuitive platform.
We started with stakeholder discussions and a user-first mindset. Understanding how clinicians would interact with the platform helped us envision a simple, intuitive experience that made finding documents easy and efficient. We worked collaboratively with a designer to create designs that would help streamline and support the search-forward website.
Working with clean, minimal designs, we built a site that focused on usability above all. We implemented multiple ways to find documents—including keyword search, categorized filters, and structured navigation—to support different user workflows.
We built the clinical repository on WordPress with a clear focus: making document management as simple and streamlined as possible. Since the majority of the site centers around documents, we mapped out every section carefully—organizing content types, categories, and metadata—in a way that gave the ACHF team full control without overwhelming them.
The result is a backend that’s easy to navigate and manage, even for non-technical users. ACHF can quickly upload new documents, update categories, and manage search visibility all within a clean, intuitive interface built for a fast-paced healthcare environment.
The final product is a clean, efficient, and reliable clinical resource that’s now trusted by pediatric care teams across Alberta. With robust search tools and smart organization, the platform helps clinicians quickly find what they need, and saves valuable time in the process.
Best of all? The ACHF team is thrilled with how the site turned out and already has plans to grow and scale the platform for future use.
