The Challenge

For nearly 40 years, STARS had been delivering life-saving care across Western Canada—often by helicopter. While its air missions are widely recognized, many of STARS’ other critical care services were less known.

To support the evolution of the brand and build greater awareness of its full capabilities, STARS needed a new website that would reflect its multi-faceted Critical Care organization, an evolution from their original helicopter-centric focus. The goal: launch a new digital experience under the updated “Critical Care Anywhere” brand and tell the powerful stories of patients, crews, and their impact.

The Solution

UX Strategy & Content Planning

UX Strategy & Content Planning

We began with a full content audit and functionality review to map out the best user journey. The site was designed to engage a range of audiences, making sure that core messages were clear and easily navigable.

Website Redesign

Website Redesign

Working with the new “Critical Care Anywhere” brand, we ensured that the design—led by our in-house team—brought the visual identity to life online with clarity and emotional resonance. Every layout element supported the mission-focused storytelling.

Storytelling & Content Modules

Storytelling & Content Modules

Patient stories, crew perspectives, and impact vignettes were woven throughout the site. Content modules were built to be flexible and easy to manage, allowing STARS to update and grow the site as needed.

To drive deeper engagement, we built in streamlined donation functionality and added a public-facing event submission system. Events submitted by users flow into a moderation queue and are published once approved, saving the STARS team valuable time while encouraging community involvement.

Mobile & Dynamic Functionality

Mobile & Dynamic Functionality

The mobile experience was a priority, with improved performance and accessibility across all devices. We also added geolocation functionality to filter content by province and integrated Gravity Forms to simplify data collection across the site.

The Result

The new STARS website is intuitive, highly visual, and packed with impactful stories. It positions the brand not just as an emergency helicopter service but as a critical care leader serving remote and rural communities across Western Canada.

The site encourages engagement at every touchpoint, is easy for internal teams to manage, and provides a modern, flexible foundation for growth. The client’s feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and the collaborative relationship made this an exceptional project from start to finish.

Technical competency, project management, attention to detail, quality of team working with us, design acumen. Overall you navigated this well, adhered to commitments, and never under-delivered.
