True North Mortgage approached Cornerstone with a welcome challenge: Take their primary client-facing site in Canada and redevelop it as a custom web-based application that works effectively across the country. With a huge amount of information, multiple audience groups and bilingual requirements, the goal was to simplify it so that it became friendly, approachable, communicated an impactful message in English and French, and delivered custom content contingent on location.

Using Craft CMS 3 we implemented an updated User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) flow that restructured information into a handful of intuitive groupings and utilized iconography in the simplified navigation system to provide visual cues to visitors. Clean, uncluttered design with animations and motion effects allowed us to communicate big, bold messages supported by custom visuals.

The site keeps track of mortgage rates for all regions across Canada and content is updated daily through the use of on location screens, powered by the site, that provide the latest mortgage rate information. Data is customized by province so that only relevant information is displayed to a customer in any given location.

Customers are aided in finding the most suitable agent and broker through a filtering system where staff and mobile brokers are categorized by location and languages spoken. Mobile brokers are able to set their service radius through a map interface, and the site allows them to connect with customers via their selected method and contains micro site landing pages to use as marketing material.

The bilingual requirement was met with a multisite approach that offers an English site alongside the French side of the site with dedicated content for that audience segment. The ability to toggle between English and French is embedded in the site and doesn’t require the use of translation software, retaining the integrity of the messaging.

For a custom application with complex requirements and a lot of information, what you see when you visit the site is strikingly clean, simple and uncluttered. It is intuitive, not intimidating, and reflects our perpetual goal: Embrace the complexity of our client’s requirements, solve the big challenges, and distill the solutions into a user experience that looks and feels effortless.
